Conservancy hosts irrigation workshop

The Methow Conservancy and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) would like to invite the public to a workshop on what’s new in yard, garden and on-the-farm irrigation systems and irrigation management.

The two groups will present a free workshop Tuesday (Aug. 24) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Winthrop Barn. The topics will include soils of the Methow (their water-holding capacity and infiltration), drip and trickle irrigation, low flow/low pressure systems, filters, electronic timers and sensors, metering and measurement for optimum yield. Also, a presentation will be made on the afford ability, practicality and maintenance of large scale drip systems for pasture, alfalfa growers and other crops.

Local installers and suppliers will have their products displayed and information materials available.

Whether you have a small home irrigation system or are a large agricultural irrigator, come on by and check it out. For an hour-to-hour schedule, call the Methow Conservancy at 996-2870 or check out the ad in the Methow Valley News.
