Town meetings precede resource symposium

The complex, and sometimes confusing, issues surrounding salmon, steelhead and water will be topics for discussion at the fifth Forests of Okanogan County Balanced Resource Symposium.

Before the day-long symposium takes place in late November, the group will host a series of evening town hall meetings. The town hall meetings are designed to provide the public with unbiased, factual information about the biology of the fish and the basics of regulations governing fish and water.

The town hall meetings will be held in Okanogan, Tonasket and Twisp. Sept. 30 is the date for the meeting at the senior center in Twisp. The meetings will start at 7 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.and are open to the public.

For more information about the town hall meetings and the November symposium, contact Carl Bjelland at (509) 476-3820 or Herb Evans at (509) 826-3396.
