News July 22, 1999 Endangered Species Coverage Workshop examines ditch efficiency A free workshop sponsored by the Methow Conservancy will focus on ditch efficiency measures. Jeff Peterson, Steve Rolph and Jack Haines of the Bureau of Reclamation will join Okanogan attorney and local water law expert Dick Price in presenting the workshop. Haines is the author of the Deschutes-Canal Lining Demonstration Report and is a recognized authority in canal liners. Haines will also discuss fish-friendly diversion structures. Peterson will discuss water hydraulics, water measurement and measuring devices. Rolph will lead the discussion on water budgets and conservation. Price will then speak on the structure of irrigation districts and how they differ from canal companies in operation and law. The day-long workshop is free to the public.
